The Lightning Knight (The Knights of Nine: Book One)

The first book in the long-anticipated Knights of Nine series, The Lightning Knight follows the adventures of Oliver Quartermaine as he tries to save magic and the world.

Oliver Quartermaine is six-teen years old at the start of our adventure. He’s a highly trained fighter, preferring a sword as his main weapon, and has spent the previous summer competing in tournaments in the western part of Soraya.

Soraya is the name of the country comprising of eight queendoms and kingdoms east of the Sunset Mountains and south of the Dragonlands. It is ruled by High Queen Amukamora, who has been the queen of queens for hundreds of years. Our story takes place in the city of Starfall, the capital of the South.

The Quartermaines are a wealthy family of smiths in Starfall, and have been around possibly since its founding hundreds of years ago. It’s the epicenter of trade for the South and the ocean surrounding it. With the world-famous Forge just miles off the coast, Starfall has been an economic powerhouse in Soraya for longer than the High Queen has ruled.

What connects the country is an impossible invention of Oliver’s Grandfather: a steam locomotive. The designs are a closely held secret, but the machine has proved instrumental in propelling a connection of goods and people all around the country.
